The Cats Meow Jazz Bar
Cats Meow is a fictitious brand I created as a personal passion project. The project's objective was to craft an engaging and vibrant brand that would employ a variety of fonts and bold color palettes. Drawing inspiration from the free and spontaneous nature of jazz as an art form, which effortlessly bends the rules while harmoniously creating unique beauty, I aimed to capture this essence within the brand. This was achieved through the incorporation of distinctive patterns and fonts, infusing a sense of dynamic movement akin to dance. For the logo, I meticulously handcrafted the primary font, incorporating varying weights and letterform alterations to imbue it with a sense of fluidity. Additionally, I transformed the 'W' into a playful cat character, adding an extra layer of fun and spontaneity to the logo's overall appeal
I designed the Cats Meow logo to be versatile in both vertical and horizontal orientations. The primary logo incorporates a variety of surrounding shapes, creating the illusion that it's composed of individual elements coming together. Additionally, I strategically placed certain letters within highlighted shapes extending from the logo to guide the viewer's gaze across the page. Both the vertical and horizontal logo versions are responsive and adaptable, offering numerous combinations, and making it printer-friendly. Furthermore, the logo works effectively in various sizes and offers both dark and light variations.
The color palette and fonts were meticulously selected to maximize contrast when combined. I intentionally incorporated a wide range of colors and fonts with high contrast to emulate the playful and unique essence of jazz. Achieving this balance involved careful consideration of negative space to ensure that despite the diversity of colors and fonts, nothing overwhelms the eye, preserving harmony and visual appeal.
Stationary
Creating distinctive and engaging stationery for Cats Meow was a top priority for me. I aimed to strike a balance between readability and incorporating the same patterns and shapes from the logo, ensuring a seamless and unified brand identity. The stationery collection included posters, business cards, menus, as well as stickers for takeout containers and matches. I selected these items because they are not only essential for a bar and restaurant but also have the potential to be shared with customers, serving as effective tools for word-of-mouth promotion and brand recognition.
Packaging and Apparel
Diversifying a brand's assets is paramount to bolstering its recognition and resonance with customers. In the case of Cats Meow, I dedicated meticulous attention to crafting a versatile array of brand assets. This encompassed tailored packaging for takeout, including drawstring bags and containers adorned with unique stickers. This personalized touch not only fosters brand recall but also leaves a memorable and positive imprint on customers. Beyond takeout, I extended the brand's presence to an assortment of merchandise, encompassing shirts, hats, and bags, suitable for both employees and patrons. Equipping employees with branded attire not only facilitates easy identification but also plays a pivotal role in reinforcing brand recognition. Throughout the development of these brand assets, I conscientiously infused the brand's distinctive patterns and color palettes in ways that captivate and engage the visual senses.
Posters and Social Media
When crafting posters and imagery for Cats Meow, my aim was to create vibrant and attention-grabbing visuals that exuded a sense of fun and high contrast. Much of my inspiration drew from the dynamic world of cartoon intros, where creative use of shapes and letter transformations formed playful and interactive compositions. This approach allowed me to infuse the brand with an engaging and visually captivating aesthetic, ensuring it would stand out and resonate with the audience.
